Connect Meta, and what view-only access means

Lapse needs to see your live ads to check them against your licenses. You give it that by connecting Meta once and picking the ad accounts to check.

How to connect

  • Open Ad accounts in Lapse and click Connect Meta.
  • Log in to Facebook and approve Lapse. Pick the business and ad accounts it may see.
  • Back in Lapse, tick the ad accounts to monitor and save.
  • Under Your brand's Instagram accounts, click This is ours next to each account that's yours, so ads that run from your own account aren't treated as creator ads.

What view-only means

By default Lapse can only look. It reads basic facts about each ad: its name, whether it's running, which ad account it's in, which creator's post or video it uses, and the ad's text and links.

It can't create, edit, pause or delete ads, and it doesn't read your spend, audiences or payment details. The one exception is auto-pause, which you have to turn on yourself in Settings and which asks Meta for pause permission separately.

How auto-pause works

If Meta access expires

Meta access can expire, for example when you change your Facebook password. Lapse then emails you, marks the ad account on the dashboard, and stops checking it until you click Reconnect Meta. Your licenses and history are kept.

How to disconnect

In Facebook, go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations and remove Lapse. That stops access right away. To delete what Lapse has stored, see the data deletion article.
