Auto-pause and undo

Out of the box, Lapse only tells you which ads to pause. Auto-pause lets it pause them for you. It's off until you turn it on.

When Lapse pauses an ad

Only when all of these are true:

  • The license has ended or was revoked, and no other valid license covers the ad. Other problems, like a missing channel or a license that hasn't started, only send an alert.
  • Auto-pause is on in Settings, and the license doesn't opt out of it.
  • The ad is tied to the license by its ad ID, its creative, a tag in its name, or the Instagram post. Ads matched only by video or by the creator's account are never auto-paused, because those links are less certain.
  • Lapse knows for sure which kind of ad it is. If the only sign that it's a partnership ad is Meta's branded content label, Lapse alerts you instead.

Turn it on or off

Turn it on in Settings → Auto-pause. Lapse asks Meta for permission to pause ads, so you may need to reconnect Meta once. To keep one license out, open it and set Auto-pause to Never auto-pause this license.

Auto-pause opens to every account once Meta approves Lapse's pause permission. Until then, Lapse alerts you and links each ad.

Open Settings

Undo a pause

Every pause is logged in Settings → Auto-pause with the ad, the license and the time. Click Undo next to a pause and Lapse turns the ad back on.

Once Lapse has paused an ad for a license, it never pauses it again for that license, whether you click Undo here or turn the ad back on in Ads Manager. If a pause fails, Lapse tries again on the next check.

Apart from pausing an ad and turning it back on when you click Undo, Lapse never creates, edits or deletes ads.
